This is a gorgeous antique
ushak carpet from Turkey. The town of Ushak, roughly 100 miles
directly south of the city of Istanbul, produced some of the
most decorative Persian influenced carpets of all times. Their
distinctive designs appear as early as the 15th century in the
paintings of Lorenzo Lotto. The structure of the typical Ushak
carpets are consisted of wool pile and foundations along with
wool and some times cotton wefts. In this particular example,
defined allover floral pattern along with traditional motifs,
creates a highly visible workmanship. A real magnificent carpet
for your living space. |
