This is an amazing antique
Persian Bakhshaish from the late 19th century. Bakhshaish, a
tribe in the northwest of Iran in the heriz district, became
victim of modernization and most of its weavers migrated to
larger cities in search of industrial jobs. Even though, there
are no more carpets being produced in that part of Iran, Bakhshaish
carpets remain highly collectible and sought after by many collectors
and design professionals. They were exclusively made in vegetable
dyes along with high-quality wool. This wonderful piece has
great simplicity which is surrounded by a highly complex geometric
borders. An extremely important and decorative carpet for your
home or office. |
